- Estimation of CO2 emissions with CO2MPARE model
The EU policies establish a reduction target of 20% of the GHG emissions by 2020, and of 40% by 2030;CO2MPARE is a software that allows to estimate the impact of CO2 emissions resulting from the implementation of actions envisaged by the national and regional programmes supported by European funds.
Thanks to this specific software, created by a working group of ENEA within a community project, we have - for each action envisaged in the national or regional operational programmes, and its expected costs - the correspondence of the estimated greenhouse gas emissions that would result. This can enable the public decision-makers, starting from regional administrations, to address the planning of programmes financed with EU funds towards sustainable growth which ensures a low impact of CO2 emissions in all sectors of intervention (transport, construction, energy, etc.). As part of the Network’s activities within the 2007-2013 cycle, the CO2MPARE model has been updated, changing the nomenclature of the expenditure categories accordingly to what was introduced by the new EU regulations, so to allow its application to the 2014-2020 programming cycle.
